The DWI Dashboard – an interactive and informative tool about alcohol-related traffic incidents around Minnesota – has been made available to the public after previously only being accessible to law enforcement.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said it took the updated tool public in hopes of letting Minnesotans learn more about crashes and arrests related to impaired driving throughout the state.
“We’re bringing the data together in a way that we hope will help both law enforcement and the public gain a better understanding of the impact of impaired driving on Minnesota communities,” BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said in a statement.
Check Out The DWI Dashboard
You can check out the new DWI Dashboard by following the link. There you’ll find an interactive dashboard that allows the user to narrow down traffic incidents based on a number of different criteria. Users can filter for drunk driving incidents based on:
- Specific date
- Day of the week
- Location (City, County, Township)
- Time of incident
- Arresting agency
- Type of impaired incident (traffic stop or accident)
- Age of suspect
- Alcohol concentration
The DWI Dashboard is a fascinating tool that gives us a better look at some of the most dangerous areas and times on the roads in Minnesota, and officials hope that the information may be able to help keep Minnesotans safer when they are out and about.
“Saving lives on Minnesota roads requires solid data that can inform traffic safety programs and change dangerous driving choices,” said Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety Office of Traffic Safety Director Mike Hanson in a statement. “There’s no excuse to drive impaired. The DWI Dashboard gives our partners and now the public a valuable resource to make progress in preventing tragedy.”
