Criminal Defense Attorney
Alexa Zhulin is a criminal defense attorney at Appelman Law Firm who brings a sharp, dual-sided perspective to every case. With experience both in prosecution and as part of The Great Northern Innocence Project investigating wrongful convictions, Alexa has a deep understanding of how the system works—and where it fails. This allows her to anticipate the opposition’s strategy and use facts, evidence, and timing to her clients’ advantage.
Her approach is strategic, thorough, and client-focused. Alexa works closely with the firm’s legal assistant to ensure that every detail is accounted for, deadlines are met, and clients stay informed and supported at every stage. Together, they form a legal team committed to preparation, precision, and unwavering advocacy.
Alexa earned her law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she served as Secretary of the Criminal Law Society and contributed to the Expungement Clinic. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Sioux Falls, where she majored in Criminal Justice and Psychology.
When she’s not in court or prepping cases, Alexa enjoys reading, board games with friends, and spending time with her husband and their dogs.
