2020 is a year that we’d all like to forget, but that’s not to say that this year didn’t have its moments. In fact, we’d like to highlight some of our favorite moments in today’s blog. Here’s a look at five of our favorite blogs from 2020, and a little information as to why they made the list.
5. “Do Ugly People Get Longer Prison Sentences?”
This was one of the more entertaining blogs that we wrote in 2020, not only because of the subject matter, but also because of the findings! Attractive people were found to get much shorter prison sentences than ugly people when committing the same level of crime. Don’t believe us? Check out the blog for yourself!
4. “Answering The Most Googled Questions About Defense Lawyers”
We also liked putting this blog together because we really do like helping people, so answering some of the most searched questions about our line of work was right up our alley. We got to answer questions like “Will my lawyer speak for me in court?” and “Can my lawyer go to court for me?” We even answered one of the weirder questions that made the list, which was “Does my lawyer have a crush on me?” Head over to the blog to check it out.
3. “How To Talk Your Way Out Of Your DUI”
This was actually one of our favorite posts of the year because of how the blog was received on social media. We’ll admit that the blog title is a little “click baity,” but if anyone took the time to actually read the article, they’ll understand that we said there’s no way to talk your way out of a DUI. The only real chance you have is to talk to a lawyer and see what they can do in court. Needless to say, a few internet commenters did not take the time to read our advice and instead took umbrage with the idea that we were explaining how drunk drivers could avoid all consequences for their actions. For that reason, this blog made the list of our favorites in 2020.
2. “Appelman Law Firm Named Top Criminal Defense Firm In Minneapolis”
We were also excited to announce to our readers that Appelman Law Firm was named a top criminal defense firm in Minneapolis by the insiders at Expertise.com. They evaluated firms based on a number of important factors, and when their list was whittled down to just a few top firms in the area, we were pleased to be included in their selection. 1. “When Your Skin Color Dictates Your Consequences” and “Know Your Protest Rights In Minnesota.”
We wrote these blogs on consecutive days in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minnesota police. It was a polarizing event for our community and the nation as a whole, and we hope Floyd’s death brings positive change for how people of color are treated by the criminal justice system. If you have a moment, consider reading those two blogs and remembering that the coronavirus was not the only life-changing event to take place in our own backyard this year.
