If you’re heading out of town or simply visiting friends a couple of miles away, there’s an increased likelihood that you’ll encounter a police officer on the road this Labor Day weekend.
Although a formal announcement has yet to be made, years of previous data suggest that more than 300 law enforcement agencies from across the state will be conducting extra patrols throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend to look for the four fatal driving behaviors and other infractions. The “Fatal Four” driving behaviors are:
- Speeding
- Unbelted driving
- Distracted driving
- Drunk driving
Police previously announced that they planned to have extra enforcement on the roads throughout their “100 Deadliest Days” campaign, which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but there also tends to be an increased focus on Labor Day weekend driving habits.
Labor Day Lawyer In The Twin Cities
Make smart decisions behind the wheel and while you’re out enjoying the Labor Day weekend. Expect police officers in all high-traffic areas, like highways, boat launches, ATV trails and similar hotspots across Minnesota. If you’re behind the wheel, make sure you are sober, focused on the road, buckled up and minding your speed. If you get pulled over, it’s very unlikely that police will let you off with a warning, so expect a ticket or an arrest.
As we’ve said on holiday weekends in the past, we hope you make wise choices this weekend, but we’re here if you or someone you know messes up. We answer our phones 24/7, including on weekends and holidays to ensure you don’t need to spend any longer in a holding cell than you need to. If you can’t connect with a lawyer after your arrest, it’s possible that you’ll be held until Tuesday when the courts open back up. Nobody wants to spend 3-4 nights in jail because they can’t have their charges read to them in court, so sync up with a lawyer who can secure your release and begin planning your defense.
