We want to give a shout out to the Edina Peewee B1 Green who will be competing at the District Championship this weekend! The Green will be battling in District 6 to see if they can defend their title and advance to regionals later this month.
When he’s not advocating for his clients in the courtroom, you will find Avery Appelman on with ice working with the Edina Peewee hockey team. He’s been coaching the Edina PeeWee B1 Green squad for the past six years as the team’s goalie coach, and he’s found that working with today’s youth in a sport he’s deeply passionate about is an incredibly rewarding way to give back to the community.
Hoping For Another Deep Playoff Run
This year’s team is hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s Peewee B1 Green squad that captured a district and regional title en route to a State Tournament appearance. Last year’s team took home the consultation championship at the state tournament, and you can check out this recap blog about that postseason run.
The Edina Peewee B1 Green officially kick off their district run on Saturday, February 14th at 4:40 p.m. This year’s District 6 tournament is being hosted at Dakotah Ice Arena in Prior Lake, Minnesota. You can head over to the rink tomorrow to catch some of the action or you can follow along with the bracket here. If the Green win their first game on Saturday, they’ll return to the ice on Sunday to take on Prior Lake Savage Gold at 4:40 p.m.
Good luck to the Green this weekend, and thank you to all the coaches, parents, referees and fans that make these games and tournaments enjoyable for our young athletes. It’s a huge time commitment but it’s incredibly rewarding when you see the payoff in these players, both as athletes and young men in our community. Thank you to all who make this possible!
