A local man clearly didn’t learn his lesson the first time around as police say he was booked for two DUIs within a couple of hours.
According to the police, the unnamed man was arrested for failing to signal a lane change on I-494 in Plymouth. During the traffic stop, the officer became suspicious that the driver was under the influence and asked him to submit to some field sobriety tests. The driver failed the tests, and he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was eventually released to a sober driver a short time later.
We Meet Again
Not only did the inebriated man decide to get back behind the wheel while he was still under the influence, but he clearly didn’t learn his lesson about using his turn signal, because seven hours later at 12:40 a.m. on Monday morning, the man was stopped by police in Eden Prairie who witnessed him again fail to signal a lane change.
During the interaction with the police officer, the man admitted that he had just been released an hour or two earlier following a DUI in Plymouth. After again failing a field sobriety test, the man was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
This is one of those stories that just leaves you scratching your head. When we try to fight for our clients in court, one of the best ways to get a lesser sentence is to show the judge that our client understands the gravity of their actions and is willing to make changes to avoid similar behavior in the future. It will be hard for this man’s lawyer to do that for their client, because it’s clear that he doesn’t seem intent on changing his ways. Hopefully the man gets the help he needs to make better decisions before he hurts himself or someone else behind the wheel.
