Thanksgiving is only a few days away, and that means you’re going to notice a theme on our blog in the next three days. Drunk driving arrests always spike in the four-day holiday stretch spanning from the night before Thanksgiving into the wee hours of Sunday morning, so we’re going to do our best to throw a bunch of DUI-related information at you this week in hopes of helping you and your friends make a smart decision this year.
We’ve haven’t heard word from the Minnesota State Patrol regarding extra DUI patrols just yet, but they’ve been put in place each of the past few years, so expect a heavy police presence on the roads. Even though police haven’t announced exactly where they’ll be stepping up DUI enforcement, we can take a pretty good guess by taking a look at this infographic provided by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety. It shows which counties in Minnesota are most often targeted for extra DUI patrols.
As you’ll notice, the top three counties with the most DUI arrests are the same as last year, but there’s a few differences as we move down the list. If you’re having trouble viewing the infographic, click here for a larger picture.
So if you’re going to be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday in one of the above counties, make sure you make smart decisions when it comes to drinking and driving. The night before Thanksgiving is often the deadliest day on Minnesota roads, and don’t increase your likelihood of getting in an accident or getting arrested by driving drunk.
