Cops generally like to radar for speeders in areas that have a quick drop in speeds, but which Minnesota cities give out the most speeding tickets? Using police data, we’ve pinpointed the top ten police departments who ticket the most speeders, and we’ve identified the hotspots where most tickets are handed out!
Minnesota Speeding Hotspots
Here’s a list of the 10 departments who handed out the most speeding tickets per capita in 2011.
1. Edina Police – 8,700 tickets for 48,620 residents. Top Ticket Locations: South bound Hwy 100, North bound Hwy 100, West bound Hwy 62.
2. Spring Lake Park Police – 1,150 tickets for 6, 457 residents. Top Ticket Locations: 1500 Block 81st Avenue NE, 1500 Block Co Rd 10 NE, 1200 Block Co Rd 10 NE.
3. Wayzata Police – 646 tickets for 3,740 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Hwy 12/394, 200 block of Central Avenue, Wayzata Blvd, Long Lake.
4. Jordan Police – 954 tickets for 5,583 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Not Listed.
5. Medina Police – 768 tickets for 4,963 residents. Top Ticket Locations: State Highway 55, Hamel Road, County Road 19.
6. Robbinsdale Police – 2,291 tickets for 14,148 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Hwy 100 & 36th, Hwy 100 & France, Lakeland & West Broadway, Hwy 100 & Co Rd 81.
7. Dayton Police – 509 tickets for 4,736 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Not Listed.
8. Champlin Police – 2,191 tickets per 23,418 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Dayton Rd/Nathan Ln, Hwy 169/Dayton Rd, Hwy 169/Dowlin St.
9. Bayport Police – 264 tickets for 3,471 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Hwy. 95/5th Ave N., Hwy. 95/3rd Ave. S., 900 block of 5th Ave. N.
10. Minnetrista/St. Bonifacius Police – 487 tickets for 6,474 residents. Top Ticket Locations: Mainly 6400 block – 6800 block of Highway 7, Southeast quadrant of St. Bonifacius, mostly 8400 – 8800 block of Hwy 7, Southwest quadrant of St. Bonifacius, mostly 8800 – 9200 block of Hwy 7.
