Demand for Minnesota Wild playoff tickets are at an all time high, and that means more scalpers are coming out of the woodwork with counterfeit tickets.
Minnesota Wild executive vice president Jamie Spencer said he knows “that counterfeit tickets are on the rise,” and he had some tips for fans who want to purchase tickets and avoid getting denied at the door. To ensure you’re getting a legit ticket, you should:
- Purchase tickets through trusted websites like Ticketmaster, Stubhub or the Wild’s website. If you have an American express blue, you can sometimes even buy tickets before they are released to the general public so keep an eye on the sites.
- If you’re buying tickets from a vendor or on Craigslist, ask the seller if he has a valid vendor’s license.
- Ask to take a picture of the seller’s license or require that they walk up to the gates with you to ensure your ticket scans.
- If you’re meeting up with a seller you found on Craigslist or Facebook, request that the meeting takes place at a public location, like a police station or grocery store, and feel free to bring a friend.
- Be wary of deals that seem “too good to be true.”
“There are a lot of tickets available right now through the secondary market,” said Spencer. “So if you’re still looking to purchase tickets, we’re asking you to go to wild.com or Ticketmaster to make those purchases.
The team isn’t the only one warning fans of counterfeit tickets, as the St. Paul police are adding extra patrols if sniff out illegal sellers. If you plan on heading downtown for the game tonight, give yourself some extra time to get there, and follow the above tips to ensure you get a legitimate ticket to the game. Go Wild!
