Artificial intelligence seems to be a hot topic in 2025 as companies look to things like ChatGPT and other predictive AI models to push their business forward. But AI can’t take the place of real people, especially when it comes to leaving reviews for lawyers who have assisted a client in the past. Unfortunately, it appears that we are starting to see a bevy of law firms promote themselves using AI-generated reviews.
According to a recent article in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, there has been a dramatic uptick in AI-generated reviews of US law firms. The article mentioned that more than 58 percent of Boston law firm reviews in 2025 were likely AI-generated, which was the highest amount among major US cities included in the study.
If you use AI-generated reviews to promote your business, you may end up being targeted by your state’s attorney general or even clients if it comes to light that you used fake and false information to promote your product. We would never use AI-generated reviews to promote our business, because we want your words to mean something and have that underlying authenticity that AI struggles to create. We don’t feel like we need to rely on AI for many reasons. We don’t require it and we’re not pushy about it, but a couple sentences on Google can go a long way in helping others if you believe we’ve added real value to your situation.
