We like to give the public a heads up about certain actions police will be taking so that they can make smart choices, and although there has yet to be an official announcement from the Minnesota Department of Transportation Office of Traffic Safety, we expect police to once again conduct a large scale crackdown around the 4th of July holiday weekend.
If this year’s crackdown is anything like year’s past, we can expect more than 300 police departments from around the state to come together for the extra enforcement period. And again, while we don’t know anything official, police have historically focused on four dangerous driving behaviors. We expect them to be cracking down on the following behaviors:
Drunk Driving – Drunk driving is incredibly dangerous, and the holiday weekend provides extra opportunities for individuals to ring in the celebrations with alcohol. Don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking, because police will be on the lookout.
Speeding – There will be a lot of drivers on the road heading to their holiday destination. Heavy traffic and high speeds don’t mix. Mind your speed.
Distracted Driving – Put your cell phone down and make sure you are paying attention to the road and your surroundings.
Unbelted Driving – Most Minnesotans wear their seat belt when they are in a vehicle, but make sure that you are belted, because police will be pulling unbelted drivers over during the crackdown, and it’s unlikely that they’ll let you off with a warning.
Need A Lawyer Over The Fourth?
If you or someone you know runs into some trouble over the Fourth of July, make sure they connect with the team at Appelman Law Firm. While others are soaking up the sun at the lake, we’re ready to jump into action and help Minnesotans out of a tough situation. The courts may be closed for the holiday, and if you can’t be brought before a judge, you may be stuck in jail for an extended period. We can help solve that problem and secure your release so that you don’t spend days in jail and have your holiday weekend completely ruined.
Just listen to what one satisfied client had to say about our work when they needed assistance over the Fourth of July:
“My concern was the fact that there were other licenses that I held that would’ve been greatly affected by a DWI arrest. I was given Appelman Law Firm’s number from a friend who highly recommended them. They were very patient with me and walked me through the entire process step-by-step. After retaining them, I was able to get out of jail the next day. This would normally be a hassle considering I was arrested on the Friday of 4th of July weekend. They were very informational and reassuring. In the end, all my charges were dropped due to my breath test being under the legal limit. I have known people that have hired lawyers with less experience that basically just walked in and pleaded guilty for them even though they were under the limit. This did not happen with Avery. I highly recommend Appelman Law Firm.”
