Minnesota law defines burglary as an act where a person “enters a building without consent and with intent to commit a crime.” Minnesota actually has four levels of burglary, as a Fourth Degree burglary charge doesn’t even involve stealing, whereas a First Degree burglary charge carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $35,000.
