Child Pornography Collateral Consequences Minnesota

If you are ultimately convicted of child pornography charges and criminal sexual conduct charges, then you may face collateral consequences. Collateral consequences are consequences in addition to any jail time or fines. The attorneys at Appelman Law Firm, LLC can help ensure that you do not deal with the collateral consequences outlined below.

Registration: If you were to be convicted of any degree of criminal sexual conduct with your child pornography charge, you must register as a predatory offender. Failure to adequately register as a predatory offender is a felony can result in five years of imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.

Conditional Release: Conditional release, or early release from jail, can be ordered if the offender successfully completes the treatment and aftercare programs, and other appropriate orders approved by the commissioner. If the offender fails to meet any of the conditions of release, then the commissioner can revoke the offender's conditional release and order the offender to serve all or part of the remaining portion of the conditional release term in prison.
